So my friend and I wanted to go out to dinner in Clifton the other night, but we wanted to try something different. We always end up going to Dewey's for their amazing peppercorn ranch salads and filling calzones, but we were feeling daring. My friend had mentioned going to Uno's, and I hadn't been there since high school, so we gave it a shot. Except when we got there, we couldn't find it. We walked around Ludlow for about 15 minutes until my friend finally decided to call and ask for directions. When she dialed though, all she got was a busy signal. Apparently the Uno's on Ludlow no longer exists! We had no idea. So instead, we headed over to Dewey's where I enjoyed my cheese and tomato calzone.
I was really bummed that we weren't able to try something new for dinner in Clifton. What are some of your favorite places to eat around Clifton? Anything interesting that not a lot of people know about? Or is there somewhere that you know of that college students can enjoy without spending a lot of money?
I love Krishna! The food is reasonably priced and very good.
ReplyDeleteCurrito is awesome! I hope I don't offend anyone, but I totally say it's better than Chipotle. Black bean hummus and fresh mango salsa on my salad? Yes please!! It's a little bit more expensive than Chipotle, but so worth the extra change. I am hungry just thinking about their hummus!
ReplyDeleteI'm very partial to Chicago Gyros and Mac's. You get your bang for your buck at Chicago Gyros, as it is pretty inexpensive, and they give you huge drinks, something that is very nice during the summer! Their gyros are also very filling.
ReplyDeleteMac's is also decently priced if you and a friend are willing to split a pizza.
On the Indian front, I've always been partial to Apna over on Ludlow. They have a killer lunch buffet for I think $7.
ReplyDeleteChicago Gyro's has Clifton's best gyros, hands down.
Call me a homer but I enjoy Skyline. If I'm willing to "get daring" I enjoy going to the little Chinese place next to Macs, King Wok, I think it's called.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Duane, Chicago Gyros is my favorite place to eat in Clifton. I only recently started going there, but I wish I'd gone there when I used to live in Clifton!
ReplyDeleteThey have the best garden burger (seriously, I could eat it every day) and hands-down the best fries. I actually haven't tried their veggie gyro yet, but it's next on my list since everything else is so delicious.
I love Chicago Gyro, but my favorite place would either be Myra's or Krishna. I love Indian food, so I eat there quite a bit! And Chicago Gyro has the best fries in the world!
ReplyDeleteIf you want to feel cultured, the Indian and Thai places on Ludlow are fantastic. Proud Rooster on Ludlow offers tasty breakfast favorites. And it's cheap! It's a little whole-in-the-wall but food is great!
ReplyDeleteI love buffets in general, so count me as a supporter of every Indian lunch buffet ever. As for places for different food, I went to Sitwell's before I figured out an ex worked there. They have some really obscure but really tasty sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteCilantro has an amazing shrimp stir fry and they hook you up on the veggies there. It is respectable vietnamese food, especially for the clifton area. And the Gouda and guacamole sandwich at Sitwells is avavao heaven.
ReplyDeleteGreat comments, so why haven't you done a crowdsourced post using the comments?
ReplyDeleteSpicy Pickle or Krishna. Neither are exactly hidden, but they're so good. They're well known for a reason.
ReplyDeleteThe environment of Spicy Pickle is very nice too, it always feels warm and open, with the big windows, there is always a ton of natural light. Something that's hard to come by in Clifton.
I cant stay away from the spicy pickle. If I'm driving down McMillan and I'm even slightly hungry, it's not fair. I've illegally parked numerous times to run in for some carry out.
